This wine comes robed in a dark, inky garnet cloak. What’s that you say? … you don’t like cherries? … then this is NOT the wine for you!! From it’s pervasive nose to it’s medium-throated palate, cherries are at the forefront, red & dark, like a fresh-baked pie, with that bit of spiced crust. Supported by underlying notes of raspberry, tobacco, violets & white pepper, this surprisingly fruit-forward (for a Cab Franc) puppy finishes with smooth tannins and tends to linger on the palate.
FOOD PAIRING SUGGESTIONS:
Extremely versatile, Cab Franc, while very suitable for grilled red meats, is one of those for whom lighter fare pairs well! Really prefer red wine over white, but love chicken (poultry dishes) or pork or veal? Cab Franc is the solution for you! Not to mention medium to hard cheeses & charcuterie, pizza, dishes w/tomato sauce or most Mediterranean fare … perhaps a tangy lamb tagine with tomatoes & dried apricots?
